full-earth.gifAfter each lesson or presentation we give we should take time to step back and analyze our performance. Not in a self destruct kind of way but a way that help us realize what went well so we can do it again and what didn’t so we can change it. Taking a few minutes to ask yourself and answer these questions after every presentation or lesson you give will improve your teaching. You are taking the time to retain what you’ve learned from the experience and then you will be able to draw from it in the future. So here are 5 simple questions to ask yourself to analyze the success of your presentation:

1- Was I prepared?

2- What was my goal?

3- What did I do to reach the goal?

4- Did I reach the goal?

5- What would I do differently next time I teach this lesson?

These questions are meant to be a measuring stick to see where you need extra work, not a beating stick to pound on yourself with. Some areas you will do fantastically in and others not so well. Next time you teach remember what went well and do that again. Then find a way to change what didn’t go so smoothly and see if you can improve. It’ll only take 5 or 10 minutes but it will have a big impact

self critiques are important in every setting, but essential for teaching. The whole idea of having a goal when you teach is lost sometimes. Great post.
